butohworld gathers butoh events from all over the world in one place: classes, workshops, residencies, performances, festivals, jams and laboratories. All the butoh in the world, at a glance. Free for everyone. The same for everyone.

Who is behind it

I am Matilde Javier Ciria, a butoh artist with more than twenty years in the performing arts. I direct BIG / Butoh International Gathering, Alma Negra, etc… I started this agenda because the world’s butoh is scattered across hundreds of websites, social networks and mailing lists, and finding it is hard: here can be all in one place.

How it is run

• Free, always. Publishing and finding events costs nothing, and nobody can pay to appear first or to be highlighted.
• Run on donations. What it costs is hosting, domain, maintenance. If you want to help, you can; every donation helps this site to exits. You don’t receive anything but that.
• Your data stays here. No advertising, no tracking of opens or clicks, and your email is never shown to anybody.
• Organizers are responsible for their events. Sign-up and payment happen with them, never with butohworld.
